Chamber raises funds for scholarships

The third annual Morrow County Chamber of Commerce Reverse Raffle was a success as thousands of dollars were raised for the organization’s annual scholarships it awards to graduating seniors across the county.

Library leaders meet with local politicians

On April 24, representatives from libraries in Morrow County — Cardington-Lincoln (Cardington), Perry-Cook Memorial (Johnsville), and Selover (Chesterville) Public Libraries — traveled to Columbus for the Ohio Library Council’s Library Legislative Day. They joined over 200 public library supporters from across the state to discuss the life-changing work of libraries.

Cardington FFA celebrates 84 years

On Friday, April 19, the Cardington FFA Chapter held its annual banquet and awards ceremony. The event was held in the gymnasium at Cardington-Lincoln High School to celebrate 84 years of the FFA Chapter and the successes it has had over the past year. More than 540 guests were in attendance, including members, parents, alumni, school board members and school administration, local business and industry professionals, Ohio FFA State Officers, and visiting FFA members from Highland, Amanda Clearcreek and Big Walnut schools. We were also pleased to host the incoming superintendent to Cardington-Lincoln Local Schools, Todd Spinner.

‘Letters Live’: MCHS holds annual meeting

The Morrow County Historical Society met April 11 for their Annual Dinner and Meeting with the theme of “Letters Live”. Many members brought letters to display and share as per the theme of the meeting. Copies of actual letters from the collection of the Historical Society were placed around the centerpieces for the guests to read.

Alzheimer’s Association seeking volunteers

The Alzheimer’s Association is seeking volunteers for initiatives across central Ohio, including community education, support groups, fundraisers, advocacy, and Walks to End Alzheimer’s. The chapter serves 19 counties — Marion, Morrow, Union, Delaware, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Fayette, Pickaway, Fairfield, Hocking, Athens, Meigs, Perry, Morgan, Washington, Muskingum, Noble, and Monroe counties.

Hilborn talks county parks

Selover Public Library in Chesterville held its fourth “Officially Speaking” event on April 24. Morrow County Park District Board Chairman Tim Hilborn joined a small group of Chesterville, Marengo, and Sparta residents to enjoy some light refreshments and to talk about himself and the county park district.

The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Unclaimed Funds is currently safeguarding approximately $4 billion in unclaimed funds that are waiting to be claimed. Last year alone, Ohioans were able to put more than $139 million back into their pockets.

12 concerts on tap for summer concert series

The Ralph Thauvette Summer Concert Series has expanded to 12 free concerts this summer in downtown Crestline. All concerts take place at the corner of Seltzer and Scott streets.
