The public square in Mount Gilead was the scene of the Veterans Day observance on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., the exact hour the Armistice was signed at the end of World War I.
Woodside Village Care Center celebrates veterans
Navy veteran Bob Orewiler was persistent in asking for a POW/MIA flag to fly with the American flag in front of Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead. On Friday, Nov. 10, Orewiler got his wish along with nine other veterans at Woodside.

Rotary Club donates dictionaries
Since 1995, the Cardington Rotary Club has participated in the Third Grade Dictionary Project and donated hundreds of dictionaries to students at four Morrow County schools: Cardington-Lincoln, Gilead Christian, Highland and Mount Gilead.
CIC comes to aid of American Legion
The American Legion has been active in the Cardington community for over a century. Recently, the building’s roof had begun to fail and after several short-term fixes, it was needing a permanent replacement before this winter. The cost for the project was estimated to be $30,000.
Villagers enjoy Halloween in Cardington
Over 1,000 people visited downtown and the streets of Cardington on Oct. 28 for the Friends of Cardington’s Halloween events.
Local teacher discusses benefits of online learning
Rachel Fiest, of Mount Gilead, has spent 20 years teaching kindergarteners via online learning through Ohio Connections Academy (OCA.) She has taught students in Morrow County and throughout Ohio.
Grant helping fund county roadwork
Kokosing Construction Company began work on County Road 22 on Oct. 18, and by the next afternoon, the crew had put down the first layer of pavement on the 5.41-mile stretch which started in Williamsport and extended to the Waterford Road, ending at the Knox County line.
