Several Highland athletes were honored by the MOAC when that conference announced its all-league team in winter sports.

In boys’ basketball, Brock Church was named honorable mention. Kameron Stover received honorable mention for the Scots in girls’ basketball.

A large number of wrestlers were recognized by the conference. Caleb Wetzel, Cael Gilmore and Remington Baker all were named to the first team, while Konnor Blaney, Brendan Lester and Mathew Scarbury reached the second team. Chander Stevens was an honorable mention pick.

For girls’ bowling, Elyssa Reigles was a first-team selection, while both Joleigh Burson and Shelby Michels received honorable mention. Trevor Stewart was a second-team pick in boys’ bowling. Also, Ben Harris received honorable mention.

District 11 also announced its basketball awards recently.

In Division II, Highland had Gavin Toombs named to the second team in boys’ basketball, while Church received honorable mention. Stover picked up honorable mention recognition in Division II girls’ basketball.

Mount Gilead’s Matthew Bland was a first-team pick on the Division III boys’ basketball team. Teammate Aaron Gannon was a second-team pick, while Carter Kennon took home honorable mention.

For Cardington, Journey Williamson was a Division III honorable mention pick.

Cardington’s girls’ team had three players recognized in Division III. Abigail Hardwick was named to the first team, Lydia Hess received second-team honors and Madison Caulkins was honorable mention.

Northmor’s Madison Simpson was named to Division III’s second team. Emily Zeger earned honorable mention.

For Division IV boys, Grant Bentley was named to the first team, while Jaxson Wenger was selected to the second team and Hunter Fulk received honorable mention.

Mount Gilead had three girls picked to the Division IV girls’ teams. Madilyn Elson was a first-team pick, while Faith White was selected to the second team and Candace Millisor was named honorable mention.

A few local basketball players also found themselves named to the All-Ohio teams.

A pair of Mount Gilead girls were selected to the Division IV All-Ohio squad. Elson, a senior, was selected special mention; while White, a sophomore, earned honorable mention.

The Northmor boys’ basketball team also had a pair of Division IV selections. Bentley earned special mention selection as a junior, while Wenger finished his sophomore season by being named honorable mention.

As a senior, Mount Gilead’s Bland was named honorable mention in Division III.

KMAC Wrestling

The KMAC handed out its winter awards for wrestling, with Northmor’s Cowin Becker being named the Wrestler of the Year for a season that ended with a sixth-place finish at the state meet.
