The Mount Gilead boys took first place at their own invitational on Saturday, finishing with four runners in the top five.
Casey White took second place in the race in 16:27, while Austin Hallabrin finished third in 16:49, Nick Weiss was fourth in 16:56 and Liam Dennis ran fifth in 17:08. Kyle White was 14th in 17:53, Brandon Stevens took 18th in 18:00 and Trevor Ball ran 23rd in 18:09 to round out the team’s top seven.
Also, Colton Clark was 26th, Gavvin Keen placed 27th, Gavin Robinson claimed 30th, Riley Conners finished 33rd, Connor Page placed 41st, Sy Shipman ran 43rd, Isaac George finished 48th, Nathan Johnson took 56th, Josh Brown placed 58th and Josh Conaway took 68th.
The girls came in second to Centerburg. Both teams finished with 37 points, but the Trojans won by virtue of their sixth runner’s place. For the Indians, Baylee Hack won with a school-record time of 19:02. Hannah Bush placed fourth in 20:40 and Micah James was eighth in 21:08. Darcy Picker took 11th in 21:16, while Maddie Fitzpatrick finished 13th in 21:21, Bridgette Millisor was 18th in 22:00 and Makayla Weaver finished 26th in 22:52.
Also, Jadyn Shipman was 31st, Savannah Randall took 36th, Zoie Barron ran 55th, Dakota Shipman finished 60th, Deani Smith was 61st, Monica Lawrence took 63rd and Kelly Baer placed 64th.
Cardington’s girls finished fourth in their race. Alicia McElwee placed 20th in 22:11 to lead the Pirates, while Taylor Linkous was 25th in 22:50 and Jessica Shook took 30th in 23:36. Bailey Shafer ran 37th in 24:47, Sage Brannon was 41st in 25:21, Casey Bertke finished 52nd in 27:20 and Ashlee Drury placed 65th in 35:52.
The boys’ team finished fifth. Greg Osborne finished 35th in 18:56, while Sonny Grooms was 60th in 20:19 and Spencer Benson took 63rd in 20:58. Also, Racine Hallabrin ran 70th in 21:50 and Andrew Schoppelrei took 81st in 25:37.
Gilead Christian also ran in the boys’ race, but didn’t have enough runners for a full team. Sean Linder finished 13th in 17:53.14, while Justin Jones was 16th in 17:57.29. Also, Kuane Whitt placed 54th in 19:57.04.
