On Wednesday, Northmor took advantage of a six-run fourth inning to top East Knox 9-7 for their first league win of the season.

The Knights, 3-3 overall, took a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but gave up four in the third. They would rebound with six in the fourth and never looked back. East Knox tallied one run in the fifth, sixth and seventh frames, but couldn’t get over the hump.

Bryan Hammond picked up the win, pitching five innings. He walked two and gave up eight hits. Sam Eichorn got the save by striking out four over the final two innings, while walking one and giving up one hit.

The Knights got 14 hits in the game, with Jake Farley, Gunnar Lilly and Mostyn Evans all having three singles. Nate Hall had a pair of hits and Jordan Wiseman added a double.

Mount Gilead Indians

Mount Gilead was held to two hits by visiting Fredericktown on Wednesday in a 10-3 loss to the Freddies.

The Freddies scored one in the second and three in the third to take a 4-0 lead. MG scored two in their half of the third, but gave up two in the fourth and one in the fifth to fall behind 7-2 and would not be able to claw back into the contest.

Dustin McAvoy and Ben Hayes combined to strike out eight and walk three, while giving up 13 hits. McAvoy took the loss. Offensively, Zack Foster smacked a double.
