Both Mount Gilead cross country teams finished second in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Blue Division championships Saturday at Kokosing Dam.
Host Fredericktown earned both championships. In the boys’ race, they finished with 33 points, while MG had 58, Cardington scored 93, Northmor had 104, Centerburg tallied 139, Highland finished with 143 and Elgin had 157. East Knox didn’t have a full team.
Austin Hallabrin highlighted local performances on the day by winning the boys’ race in 15:49 for Mount Gilead. Casey White was seventh in 16:57.5 and Nick Weiss took 13th in 17:46. Kyle Ciballi ran 18th in 18:01.2 and Kyle White placed 21st in 18:26.1, while Trevor Ball finished 30th in 19:12.4 and Colton Clark was 31st in 19:13.9.
Also, Gavin Robinson was 36th, Sy Shipman ran 39th and Tyler Clark placed 43rd.
Cardington was able to boast the meet runner-up, as Jacob Long placed second in 16:09.4. They had two more top-10 runners, with Josh Queener finishing sixth in 16:54.5 and Mike Queener running eighth in 17:16.2. Jakob Edgell finished 47th in 20:24.5 and Spencer Benson took 49th in 20:34.6 to round out the Pirate effort.
Northmor’s James Walker placed 16th in 17:52.7. Alec Moore took 22nd in 18:39.8, Chase Hoover ran 23rd in 18:47.3 and B.J. White was 18:54.5. Finishing 28th was Kaleb Hart in 19:07.8. Mostyn Evans took 32nd in 19:17.7 and Ryan Bentley was 34th in 19:34.2.
Also, Aaron Berg was 40th, Manny Heilman finished 45th and Kyle Price took 48th place.
For Highland, Collin Kipp placed 25th in 19:00.8 and Dalton Lee following in 26th with a time of 19:03.6. Tyler Bowen was 33rd in 19:31.4, Jacob Serio placed 37th in 19:39.1 and Jimmy Tebbe ran 41st in 19:54.7. Nick O’Bryant was 44th in 20:04.4, while Jesse Matos took 50th in 20:41.4.
Also, Caleb Carder was 51st, Luke Rinehart ran 53rd and Jacob Manring placed 54th.
In the girls’ race, Fredericktown finished with 45 points, while MG tallied 61. Northmor was third with 68 points and they were followed by Centerburg (75), Highland (111) and Cardington (165). Elgin and East Knox did not field full teams.
For the Indians, Jenna Shipman placed third in 20:00.2. Darcy Picker was 11th in 20:50.5 and Hannah Bush took 12th in 20:51.6. Kelsey Snyder was 18th in 21:36 and Micah James ran 21st in 22:01.4. Jadyn Shipman took 31st place in 22:58.7, while Savannah Randall finished 37thi n 24:13. Also, Hope Hack was 46th and Kelly Baer ran 59th.
Northmor’s Kristen Duryea paced local girls in the race, running second in 19:56.5. The meet was won by Centerburg’s Sarah Thatcher in 19:43.6. Samantha Peters was next for the Knights in 20:57.2, while Isabelle Ditullio took 15th in 21:14.1. Brooke Bennett ran 20th in 21:46.1, Selena Cortez finished 22nd in 22:09.8 and Reanne McDonald was 23rd in 22:16.6. Sydney Jennette placed 25th in 22:19.7.
Also, Rachel Morrison was 33rd, Samantha Grogg took 39th and Sara Drumm ran 54th.
For the Lady Scots, Sophia Thompson finished seventh in 20:34.7, while Laura Spearman was 16th in 21:17.7 and Jena Buchholz took 27th in 22:30.4. Jenna Brown finished 38th in 24:16.6, Elizabeth Jensen placed 40th in 24:31.5, Clarissa Dudgeon ran 42nd in 24:55.1 and Olivia Longhenry claimed 47th in 25:29.8.
Also, Morgan Wilhelm ran 48th, Gracie Hinkle was 50th and Brianna Dado took 55th.
Cardington’s Sage Brannon finished 29th in 22:51 and Alicia McElwee took 32nd in 23:11.6. Abbey Lorimer ran 41st in 24:38.8, while Bailey Shafer was 43rd in 24:55.9 and Jessica Shook claimed 51st in 26:11.5. Also, Destiny Williamson was 56th in 28:33.5 and Ashlee Drury placed 58th in 33:55.4.
