Cardington cruised to an 11-1 home win over Danville Monday night.

The Pirates tallied 10 hits in the game, with Kaiden Beach recording a double and single and Dillon Minturn, Wyatt Denney and Wyatt Wade all cracking doubles. Also, Denton Garrison tallied a pair of singles. Wade also picked up the win. He struck out four, walked three and scattered five hits in going the distance in the five-inning game.

The Pirates made it two in a row over Danville Wednesday, when they claimed an 11-6 win on the road.

A.J. Hall finished with three singles in the contest, while Beach tallied a double and Wade added a pair of singles. Merek McClure pitched three innings in relief to claim the win. He, Hall and Cadin Dewitt combined to strike out four, walk two and surrender eight hits.

Northmor Golden Knights

The Northmor baseball team suffered its first loss of the year Monday at East Knox.

The Golden Knights were outhit 16-4 in suffering a 12-2 loss to the Bulldogs. Drew Hammond had two singles to lead the team offensively. He also was the pitcher of record. He, Cole Cuffman and Garrett Harvey combined to strike out five and walk two.

Northmor avenged that defeat on Wednesday when they took an 8-3 home win over East Knox.

Both Hammond and Harvey had doubles in the game, with Hammond adding a single. Grant Bentley went the distance to earn the win. He struck out five, walked one and gave up six hits.

Northmor won against River Valley on Friday by an 11-8 score..

The Golden Knights collected 10 hits in the game, with Hammond cracking a double and single. Cooper Thomas, Trevor Brubaker and Bryce Cooper all had two singles. Cooper also earned the win. He, Brubaker and Hammond combined to strike out seven, walk seven and give up five hits.

Highland Scots

Highland broke a 2-2 tie with host Marion Harding by scoring twice in the sixth and three more times in the seventh of what would be a 7-2 win.

The team picked up eight hits in the game, with both Zachary Schmidt and Zach Church cracking doubles and Hayden Kline adding a pair of singles.

Jace Brooks picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief. He and starter Kort Sears combined to strike out five, walk three and surrender seven hits.

The Scots topped host Lexington by a 5-3 margin on Friday.

Jayden Collins had a double for the Scots, while Sears added three singles and Zach Church contributed two hits. Schmidt earned the win. He, Drew Altizer and Brooks finished with four strikeouts, five walks and five hits surrendered.

The team split a doubleheader with Bloom-Carroll on Saturday.

The first game went to the Bulldogs by a 4-1 margin. Collins had a double and single to lead the Scots. Sears, who suffered the loss, and Evan Johnson totaled three strikeouts and two walks, while giving up six hits.

Highland cruised to an 11-0 win in the second game. Collins and Brooks combined on a five-inning three-hitter. They struck out three and walked one.

Both Collins and Schmidt tallied a double and single. Hayden Kline and Brayden Wiggand both had two singles.

Mount Gilead Indians

Centerburg broke a tie with a seventh inning run and went on to claim a road win over Mount Gilead by a 5-4 count.

Carter Kennon had three singles for MG to account for half of his team’s hits on the day. Cole Fricke pitched a complete game. He struck out five, walked two and gave up eight hits.

The Indians bounced back on Tuesday, scoring in the bottom of the seventh to edge Danville 6-5.

Nick Garvey had a double and single for the team, while both Gage Baker and Judah Reid added two-base hits. Mason Barnum and Hayden Somerlot both had a pair of singles.

Baker also picked up the win in relief. He, Hayden Krinn and starting pitcher Hayden Pangborn combined to strike out three and give up nine hits and zero free passes.

On Wednesday, MG blasted Centerburg to avenge Monday’s loss.

In their 18-5 win, the Indians collected 14 hits, including two doubles and three singles by Kennon. Baker added a double and single, while Jonny Martinez and Barnum both had three hits. Joey Baldwin earned the win in relief. He and Cameron Vickers totaled two strikeouts, six walks and seven hits surrendered.

Mount Gilead fell to Wynford 15-2 on Friday.

Carter Kennon finished with a double and single to lead the MG offense. Martinez was the pitcher of record. He and Barnum combined to strike out three, walk six and give up 14 hits.

The Indians would rebound on Saturday to sweep Triad in a doubleheader by scores of 10-2 and 13-12.

In the first game, Kennon tallied four hits, including a pair of home runs and a double. Baker added a double and single, while Nick Garvey had three singles and both Reid and Somerlot finished with two hits. Pangborn went the distance for the win. He struck out two, walked three and scattered six hits.

The team would score four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to battle back for the win in the second game.

Kennon tallied a triple and double, while both Baker and Garvey had a double and two single. Martinez contributed a pair of singles. On the mound, Baldwin and winning pitcher Vickers combined to strike out four, walk six and give up 17 hits.
