The Highland track and field teams swept a five-team meet hosted by the Scots on Tuesday.

The girls’ team scored 154.5 points, while second-place Mount Gilead had 78.75. In the boys’ meet, the Scots finished with 140 points and MG had 71 for second place. Also competing were Centerburg, FCA and Mansfield Christian.

The Lady Scots won two relays in the meet. The quartet of Mackenzie Blubaugh, Lauren Garber, Isabelle Arnett-Tomasek and Iliana Men-Hartley won the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:33.03 and the team of Camryn Miller, Garber, Riley Matthews and Blubaugh took first in the 3200 relay in 11:37.11. Garber also won the 400 in 1:07.79 and Miller added a win in the 3200 in 13:07.83.

Juliette Laracuente won both jumping events. Her distance in the long jump was 18’9.5” and she cleared 5’6” to claim the high jump. Ava Fichtner picked up a win in the 100 hurdles in 18.12, while Gracyn Zerby took the pole vault by clearing 8’6”. In the throws, Alexis Eusey won the shot put with an effort of 32’9.75” and Margaret Hennell got first in the discus with a throw of 102’2”.

The Mount Gilead girls also won two relays. The team of Grace Shipman, Natalie Waugh, Danielle Pohlkotte and Madilyn Elson took both the 400 relay (54.22) and the 800 relay (1:56.32). Elson also won the 100 in 13.77, while Darbie Dillon took the 300 hurdles in 54.36.

The Highland boys took first place in three of the four relays. Malin Fichtner, Gavin DeBord, Brayden Benedict and Gavin Hankins took first in the 400 relay in 47.61. Dylan Thomas, William Walker, Toby Rogers and Gavin VanWinkle won the 800 relay in 1:38.91 and Grath Garee, Joel Roberts, Hunter Bolton and Matthew Miller claimed the 3200 relay in 8:52.18.

Rogers also won both the 110 hurdles in 18.26 and the 300 hurdles in 44.17. DeBord added a win in the high jump by clearing 5’10”, while Roberts also won the 400 in 54.48. Also, Owen Winkelfoos won the 3200 in 12:02.07 and Darren Styer took the pole vault by clearing 11’6”.

Mount Gilead won the 1600-meter relay, as Quade Harris, Jonathan Miller, Abram Shonk and Matthew Bland finished in 3:41.45. Harris also won the 200 with a time of 24.01. Also, Joey Baldwin was first in the shot put. His top effort was 39’2.5”.

Crestline Invitational

The Cardington girls’ track team took home the team trophy from the John McDonough Invitational hosted by Crestline on Tuesday. They finished with 118 points in the eight-team meet.

Loey Hallabrin won the 800 with a time of 2:33.27 and also was third in the 400 with a time of 1:07.74. The Lady Pirates also won the 1600-meter relay in 4:40.83.

Magi Hallibrin finished second in both the 800 (2:47.08) and 1600 (6:14.36). Morgan White took second in the 3200 in 13:43.76 and also was third in the 1600 in 6:31.85. Cardington also placed second in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2:04.94.

Sage Whetnall took third in the high jump by clearing 4’4, while Sophie Moloney was third in the long jump with an effort of 13’8” and Dana Congrove finished third in the shot put with a heave of 28’10.5”.

The Gilead Christian girls finished second overall with 101 points.

Teresa DeZurik won the 100 in 13.48 and also claimed the 200 in 28.8. Aryanna Green won the 100 hurdles in 19.32 and the 300 hurdles in 57.06, while also clearing 5’6” in the pole vault for third place.

The 400-meter relay finished second in 58.95, while the 3200-meter relay was third in 15:36.73. Also, Eva DeZurik claimed third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 1:01.61.

Cardington took third place in the boys’ meet with 106 points. Aidan Reitmire won the 800 in 2:05.68 and also was second in the 3200 with a time of 12:15.92. Jason Bockbrader added a win in the high jump by clearing 5’6”.

A.J. Brehm took second in the high jump by clearing 5’4”. The team also got second-place finishes from the 800 relay (1:44.04) and the 1600 relay (3:44.45). The 3200 relay finished third in 10:42.04. Warren Garrison was third in the 3200 in 12:39.27 and Isaac DelaCruz finished third in the 400 in 57.08.

Gilead Christian’s boys were seventh with 41 points. Seth Bertram won the 3200 in 11:42.5 and was second in the pole vault, clearing 9’6”.

Granville Invitational

The Mount Gilead track teams competed at the Granville Invitational on Friday, with the boys’ team finishing sixth out of nine teams and the girls placing eighth.

The boys had a pair of second-place finishes. Owen High cleared 5’10” to take second in the high jump, while the team’s 800-meter relay of Abram Shonk, Quade Harris, Jonathan Miller and Matthew Bland was second in 1:32.82.

Bland went 20’4” in the high jump for third place, while Will Baker was third in the 3200 in 9:29.11.

For the girls, Mikala Harris was third in the discus with a top effort of 95’3.5”.

Loudonville Invitational

The Northmor boys’ track team took second place on Saturday at Loudonville’s Cowen Invitational with 72 points.

Highland was fourth with 64 and Cardington was 15th with two points in the boys’ meet.

The Golden Knights were led by Bo Landin, who won the 200 in 23.97. Landon also teamed with Conner Rodojcsics, Levi Hunter and Cowin Becker to take second in the 800-meter relay in 1:36.47 and with Ethan Amens, Hunter and Becker to take second in the 400 relay in 47.04. Landon, Radojcsics, Becker and Weaver also were third in the 1600 relay in 3:36.48.

Northmor also took second in the 3200 relay, as the quarter of Weaver, Ryan Lehman, David Blunk and Griffin Healea finished in 8:27.28. Lehman finished third in the 3200 with a time of 10:41.05.

Highland’s 1600-meter relay team of Joel Roberts, Gavin Hankins, Hunter Bolton and Toby Rogers placed first in 3:34.38. Gavin DeBord cleared 6’4” in the high jump to also pick up a first-place finish. Rogers finished third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 17.49.

Cardington’s points came from A.J. Brehm, who took seventh in the 400.

In the girls’ meet, Highland tied for eighth with 50 points, while Northmor was 10th with 32 and Cardington took 11th with 22.

Juliette Laracuente-Huebner tallied 20 of her team’s points by winning the 200 in 25.6 and also taking first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.15. The Scots also got a top-three performance from Margaret Hennell in the discus. Her top throw was 105’4”.

Northmor’s Natalie Hunter won the pole vault by clearing 9’6”. The team also got a third-place finish from its 1600-meter relay team. The quartet of Lyla Bishop, Ryann Brinkman, Hunter and Bre York finished in 4:33.93.

The Lady Pirates were led by Loey Hallabrin. She won the 800 in 2:33.76 an took second in the 1600 in 5:26.94.
