Mount Gilead boys win home invite Saturday

The Mount Gilead boys’ track team won their home invitational on Saturday with 167 points.

The quartet of Jonathan Miller, Logan High, Collin Gabriel and Quade Harris won the 800-meter relay in 1:34.24, while Owen Hershner, Liam Stalnaker, Parker Bartlett and Will Baker teamed to win the 3200-meter relay in 8:16.78.

Baker finished first in the 800 in 2:01.33 and Wyatt Mowry was first in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.43. Also, Griffin McClelland won the shot put with a top throw of 42’10”.

High took second in the 200 in 22.93 and also was third in the 100 in 11.63. Harris placed second in the 400 in 52.15, as did Tae Davis in the 110 hurdles (16.48) and Josh Burnaugh in the high jump (5’6”).

The team of Miller, Gabriel, Mowry and Baker was third in the 400-meter relay with a time of 50.07 and the quartet of Grant LaRoche, Carson Barnum, Wyatt Long and Gage Bowersmith placed third in the 1600-meter relay in 3:41.77. Hershner ran third in the 1600 in 4:39.92 and Joey Baldwin added a third place finish in the discus with an effort of 119’11”.

Northmor took second in the 10-team meet with 135 points. Cowin Becker won the 400 in 51.23, took first in the long jump with a top effort of 21’5” and also teamed with Griffin Healea, Levi Hunter and Bo Landin to win the 1600-meter relay in 3:38.59.

Ryan Lehman added a win in the 3200 in 10:10.85, while also placing second in the 1600 in 4:39.36. Connor Stockdale’s top leap of 5’6” was good for first in the high jump. The quartet of Landin, Charlie Sippel, Ethan Amens and Stockdale ran second in the 400-meter relay in 49.48, while Landin, Hunter, Amens and Becker placed second in the 800-meter relay in 1:38.38. Amens ran the 300 hurdles in 41.45 for second place.

The 3200-meter relay of Lehman, Blunk, Griffin Healea and Thomas Keen finished third with a time of 8:31.31. Also, David Blunk was third in the 3200 in 10:41.92.

Cardington placed eighth with 30 points. They had one top-three finisher in Aidan Reitmire, who placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:03.79.

In the girls’ meet, Columbus School for Girls took first place and Pleasant was second. Mount Gilead ran third with 126 points.

The Indians won a pair of relays. The 400-meter relay team of Mackenzie Mosher, Natalie Waugh, Faith White and Danielle Pohlkotte took first in 54.19, while the 800-meter relay of Waugh, Darbie Dillon, White and Pohlkotte won with a time of 1:54.76.

Abby Leonhard was a double winner, taking first in the discus with an effort of 95’10” and winning the shot put with a throw of 33’9.5”. Kimberly Staley took first in the 3200 in 12:02.75.

In the 100, Waugh was second in 13.79 and White finished third in 13.92. The team’s 3200-meter relay team of Sophie Mosher, Adriana Hershner, Haley Pfeifer and Staley placed second in 11:10.44. Also, Dillon ran third in the 100 hurdles (18.12) and Kendall Neal finished third in the high jump with an effort of 4’6”.

Northmor claimed fourth place with 87 points. Haylee Walker finished second in the 200 with a time of 30.24, while Natalie Hunter placed second in the 400 in 1:04.94 and Macie Witherall’s distance of 14’11” was good for second in the long jump.

Nalia Sackman was third in the 200 in 30.25 and Brooklyn Miller’s effort of 78’6.5” also was good for third place.

Cardington was seventh with 28 points. The team was led by Magi Hallabrin, who won the 800 with a time of 2:26.75.

Galion Kiwanis Inv.

Highland competed at Galion’s track and field invitational on Friday, with the boys’ team placing 10th out of 12 team with 26.5 points and the girls placing 11th out of 13 squads with 17 points.

The boys were led by three third-place finishes on the day. Matthew Miller finished with 3200 in 10:04.38 to place third, as did Darren Styer in the pole vault with an effort of 11’6”. Ladon Hayes had a throw of 48’7” to place third in the shot put.

For the girls, Camryn Miller took third place in the 1600 with a time of 5:18.18.
