More than 200 people attended the 67th annual Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District met for their 67th annual meeting.

Held at the American Legion Post Home in Cardington, the dinner was served by members of Post 97.

Named 2016 Conservation Cooperator of the year was Marilyn Weiler of Mount Gilead. Weiler conducts many programs on Headwaters Outdoor Education. The award was presented by Jim Meimer.

Nathan Leland of Cardington was awarded the Robert Wuertz, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and the Don McGinnis Memorial Scholarship. Ben Hayes, of Mount Gilead, received the Down Home Farms Scholarship and Emily Waters, of Cardington, received the Steve Ruhl Memorial Scholarship.

Waters and Hayes were unable to attend. These awards were presented by Jay Smith, Doug Franz and the Wuertz family.

The 2016 Morrow SWCD Affilliate members, introduced by Tom Clark, are Crop Production Services, Edison; Ag Credit, Edison; Morral Companies, Caledonia; Broerman Insurance Agency, Fredericktown; POET Bio-refining, Marion and Ohio Central Ohio Farmers Co-Op, Farm Credit Services, Ag Credit and Tidy Tim’s, Inc. all of Mount Gilead.

Re-elected to the Board of Supervisors were Tom Clark and Louann Hoflmes.

Entertaining was the choral group, “United In Harmony,” introduced by Holmes.

Dan Barker, program administrator; Erika Murray, administrative assistant and Matt Stooksbury, technician, reviewed the Morrow SWCD highlights for the year.

Special guests were recognized by Mike Sayers.

Morrow County Commissioners Richard Miller, Tom Whiston and Dennis Leader were thanked for their support of the Morrow County SWCD conservation program. Door prizes were presented by Mike Sayers and Jim Meimer.
