Crew SC top moments contest announced

Columbus Crew SC announced the creation of its “Top Twenty Moments in Black & Gold” series on ColumbusCrewSC.com to celebrate the club’s historic 20th season in Major League Soccer. Members of the media and club supporters will provide their input to determine the top 20 moments in 20 years of Black & Gold history. Over the next month ahead of a reveal during the September 26 match at MAPFRE Stadium, the series on the club’s official website is set to reflect the voting results and subsequently chronicle some of the very best historical events of Major League Soccer’s first club thus far. The announcement of the launch of the content series came during halftime of the club’s midweek clash against New York City FC, the first-ever meeting between the MLS original and the 2015 expansion side.

Through Sunday, August 23, members of the media have the opportunity to exclusively vote on their top Crew SC moments since 1996. Following the media voting, supporters will then have their say beginning August 26. On Wednesday, September 9, the final top 20 will be revealed chronologically to give supporters a broad look at the timeline of significant events in club history. In the week following that, through Wednesday, September 16, supporters then will rank those chosen 20 events in order to determine the final list.

During the week leading up to Crew SC’s clash against the Portland Timbers on Saturday, September 26, moments 20 through six will be revealed five at a time on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Saturday, September 26, moments five through one will be revealed live at MAPFRE Stadium at halftime of the regular-season contest against the Portland Timbers. The halftime ceremony is set to feature participation from select Crew SC alumni with future details on the matchday festivities to be announced at a later date.
