The swimmers hosted a sprint meet on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Marion Y and competed against Willard, River Valley, Elgin, Wynford and Bucyrus.

The boys won their meet and the girls came in fourth. The team also celebrated senior night, honoring Taylor Robinson, Ella Fraizer, Michael Snopik, Mason Kidwell and Joel Conrad.

Several MG swimmers achieved first place finishes, including the boys 200 medley relay (Snopik, Luke Fraizer, Kidwell and Conrad). The foursome was also first in the 200 free relay.

Conrad was first in the 50 free, and MG pulled off a 1,2,3 finish in the 50 fly with Joel, Michael and Mason.

Mason won the 100 IM, Luke Fraizer won the 50 back and Snopik was 1st in the 50 breast.

Other top finishes: Robinson, fourth in the 100 free; Kamry Grandstaff, third in the 50 back; Luke Fraizer, third in the 100 IM; Hayden McClelland, third in the 50 back, Cole Hershner, third in the 50 breast; and third place finishes for both the boys B 200 free relay (Hershner, Brice Haughn, McClelland and Aydyn Newson) and the 400 free relay (Hershner, Haughn, McClelland and Wyatt Mowry).

Also scoring were the girls 200 medley and free relays (Grandstaff, Ella Fraizer, Robinson and Jillian Jones); Hershner in the 100 free; Ella Fraizer, 50 free and 50 breast; Jones in the 50 free; and Newson in the 50 free.

The team competed in the North Central Ohio Swim League Championship meet on Saturday at Colonel Crawford. The teams competing in addition to MG were Ada, Bucyrus, Fostoria, Bluffton, Wynford, McComb, Upper Sandusky and Colonel Crawford. The boys came in third overall and the girls came in seventh.

The top five finishers in each event made the podium.

Podium finishes for MG were:

The girls 200 medley relay (Grandstaff, Ella Fraizer, Robinson and Jones) and the boys 200 medley relay (McClelland, Hershner, Luke Fraizer and Haughn) were both fifth.

Conrad had a first place finish and new league record in the 200 free, as well as a first place finish and new league record in the 100 fly. Kidwell was fifth in the 200 IM and third in the 100 fly; Snopik was third in the 50 free and second in the 100 free. His 100 free time also broke the previous league record. Hershner took fifth in the 100 breast.

The boys 200 free relay (Luke Fraizer, Kidwell, Snopik and Conrad) was second place and the same foursome came in third in the 400 free relay.

Robinson missed out on a podium finish in the 200 free by 0.3 seconds, but she achieved a PR. Luke Fraizer also achieved a PR in the 200 IM.

Also scoring for MG were Hershner, 200 free; McClelland, 50 free and 100 back; Grandstaff, 100 free and 100 back; Josh Davis, 100 back; Newson, 100 breast; and the girls 200 free relay (Grandstaff, Robinson, Fraizer and Jones).

The team will compete in their sectional tournament at the Marion Y on Feb. 12.
