The Highland track teams had good showings at Fredericktown on Friday in a 10-team invitational. The boys finished second to Mount Vernon, while the girls were third behind Fredericktown and MV.

Landyn Albanese had a great day for the boys’ team. He won the 100 in 11.09 and also took first in the 200 with a time of 22.75. Individually, he also was second in the long. He also teamed with Dane Nauman, John Melchiori and Gavin Hankins to win the 800-meter relay in 1:36.62.

Landon Remmert finished second in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. He also was on the third-place 400-meter relay with Owen Stillwell, Mason Duncan and Hankins and the fourth-place 1600-meter relay with Hankins, Joel Roberts and Duncan.

Caden Holtrey was second in the shot put and third in the discus for the Scots, while the team’s 3200-meter relay team of Grath Garee, Tucker Tague, Corban Benedict and Zane Sheets placed third. Melchiori was third in the 300 hurdles and Duncan placed fourth in the 400.

The girls’ team took first place in five events. Juliette Laracuente won the high jump with a leap of 5’5” and also claimed the 200 in 26.14. She teamed with Brylinn Tuggle, Makenna Belcher and Peyton Carpenter to win the 400 relay in 51.85.

The 3200 relay was won by Highland’s team of Miachele White, Camryn Miller, Lauren Garber and Jade Disbennett in 11:02.89. The quartet of Mackenzie Blubaugh, Jennifer Fisher, Audrey Weaver and Tuggle won the 800 relay in 1:57.17.

In the 1600 relay, Blubaugh, Carpenter, Isabelle Arnett-Tomasek and Belcher finished third. Belcher also was third in the 100 hurdles, while Miller finished third in the 1600 and Alexis Eusey was third in the shot put. Carpenter took fourth in the 100, Blubaugh took fourth in the 400 and Camryn Taylor was fourth in the discus.
