Mount Gilead’s middle school girls’ cross country team claimed the championship at the school’s invitational, which was held last Saturday.

The team had four finishers in the top five. Allison Johnson led MG by finishing second in 11:39.54. Also, Emily Hanft was third, Olivia Millisor took fourth, Auna Tack ran fifth, Rebecca Staley placed 23rd, Kaylene Brinkman finished 45th, Hope Longhenry claimed 47th and Anna Marocco ran 54th.

Cardington was fifth in the race with Mikayla Linkous placing 12th in 13:31.88. Also, Bella Scurlock was 13th, Marlo Young ran 19th, Maddie Brehm finished 31st and Mikaela Osborne placed 58th.

In the boys’ race, the Indians finished second. Brett Shipman led the way by running third in 10:52.75. Also, Kooper Keen was eighth, Colson Chapman finished 12th, Michael Snopik took 15th, Eric Mowery placed 17th, Mason Kidwell ran 24th, Turner Fitzpatrick claimed 26th and Phillip Emberg was 49th.

Cardington was fifth in the race, with Gauge Higgins placing 13th in 12:04.2. Also, Miles Grooms was 16th, Legend Williamson claimed 23rd, Kaleb Meade finished 30th, Jim Hallabrin took 41st, Sam West finished 47th, Avery Longsdorf was 51st and Evan Kyrk placed 57th.

For Gilead Christian, which didn’t have a full team, Conner Beck was 19th in 12:16.4 and Anthony Millinger finished 27th.
