Local teams win Monday baseball games

Mount Gilead topped host Crestline by a 10-0 margin in non-league baseball on Monday.

The Indians got 11 hits in the game, with Hayden Somerlot finished with a double and single. Gage Baker picked up three singles and Kaden St. Clair added two singles. Cole Fricke picked up a five-inning complete game win. He struck out 10 and finished with a one-hitter.

Highland Scots

Highland earned its 20th win of the year against two losses on Monday when they scored three in the bottom of the seventh to edge Gahanna-Lincoln 5-4.

Jayden Collins, Kort Sears and Jace Brooks all picked up two singles in the game. Evan Johnson earned the win in relief. He teamed with Hayden Kline, Drew Altizer and Hendrick Karya to strike out six, walk the same number and surrender four hits.

Cardington Pirates

Cardington dominated visiting Delaware Christian on Monday, earning a 16-2 win.

A.J. Hall had three singles in the contest, while Wyatt Wade added two more. The team drew nine walks to go with eight hits on the day. Cameron Haines earned the win. He and Merek McClure struck out seven and walked four, while giving up two hits in five innings of work.
