Close to 75 Cardington-Lincoln alumni and guests gathered at the American Legion on Park Avenue on Friday, Oct. 13, for the alumni association’s first 5th Quarter fundraiser. Kings Krossing Food Truck served a menu full of hotdogs, hamburgers, pretzel bites, mozzarella sticks, and much more to guests in attendance.

The 5th Quarter originally ran in the 1970s and 1980s and was organized by members of the American Legion. They were Gerald and Ann Goodman, Horsey McClenathan, Keith Pearl, Bob Sparks, Jim Morris, Dick King, Bill Disterdick and Elmo Rogers.

The alumni association conducted a 50/50 raffle and staffed the registration table, drink ticketing booth and drink station. Attendees enjoyed the food, a cold drink, and visited with great company during the hours following the homecoming game against the Fredericktown Freddies. All proceeds made were to benefit the association’s scholarship fund.

Special thanks to Mathews Marathon for donating the pop and ice; Jackie (Breckner) Meyers (class of 1993) for donating the bottled water; Eric Radcliff for setup crew; Megan (Robinson) Lane (class of 2009) for volunteering at the drink station and cleanup help; Cindy (Shoemaker) Weston (class of 1979) and Ryan Robinson (class of 2009) for manning the drink ticketing booth; Zach Meyers and Trent Crum (both of class of 2018) for providing the speaker on behalf of the Cardington Fire Department for the night; the executive committee of President Quinn Maceyko (class of 2018), Vice President Gary Ebert (class of 1968), Secretary-Treasurer Darlene (Ebert) Wallace (class of 1966), Committee members Vena (Underwood) Counts (class of 1973), Jackie (Breckner) Meyers (class of 1993), Sue Klingel (class of 1979), Lindsey (Robinson) Radcliff (class of 2006), and Dr. Julie Kenney (class of 1991) for planning, organizing, and working each station.
