MOUNT GILEAD — Morrow County came together to support many families during the holiday this year. Job & Family Services teamed up working with the Sheriff’s office who organized a toy drive for local families in the community who needed assistance from the Clearinghouse.
Families with limited resources were helped by local organizations, families, schools, churches and businesses who dropped off toys and other items for the clearinghouse to distribute to individuals in need.
Families registered for holiday assistance from the Christmas Clearinghouse at Job & Family Services by filling out a form with the child’s age, gender and types of toys desired etc. The forms made it easier for volunteers to help match the child with toys requested if possible.
Letters were mailed to the families with a date and time to pick up their toys. Due to COVID 19, families remained in their vehicles, while masked volunteers brought packages to their cars and observe the social distancing rules.
