The Mount Gilead Middle School girls’ cross country team won their 27-team race at Galion on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The team was led by Allison Johnson, who was third in 12:40.5, on their way to taking four of the top seven places in the race. Also, Emily Hanft was fourth, Auna Tack took sixth, Olivia Millisor ran seventh, Selia Shipman was 76th, Rebecca Staley placed 129th and Kaylene Brinkman finished 130th. In the open race, Hope Longhenry finished 106th and Anna Marocco was 156th.
Northmor was ninth in the meet, with Katy Blunk finishing 17th in 13:44.6. Also, Julia Kanagy was 58th, Kristie Wright finished 59th, Kendra Harvey ran 79th, Kenadie Hart placed 121st and Maddison Yaussy took 137th.
Highland’s girls were 15th, with Camberly Schade finishing 30th in 14:10.7. Mia White took 75th, while Julia Pauley was 88th, Joanna Pauley finished 108th, Heather Ross was 113th and Haylee Price placed 191st.
Cardington took 20th in the meet, as Mikayla Linkous finished 65th in 15:13.2, Bella Scurlock was 72nd, Marlo Young finished 73rd, Maddie Brehm ran 119th and Mikayla Osborne was 190th.
Mount Gilead also had the best finish in the boys’ meet, as they finished ninth of 34 squads. Brett Shipman was third overall in 11:47.2, while Kooper Keen was 46th, Colson Chapman took 51st, Eric Mowery ran 61st, Michael Snopik placed 117th, Turner Fitzpatrick was 135th and Mason Kidwell ran 142nd. In the open race, Tyler Knight was 57th and Phillip Emberg took 172nd.
Highland finished 13th, with Tucker Tague finishing 21st in 12:35.7. Also, Bryce Schott was 32nd, Kaden Miller ran 42nd, Garrett Fitzpatrick was 128th, Dylan Young ran 188th and Trever Young placed 201st.
Northmor ran 16th, as P.J. Lower took 56th place in 13:16.7. Carson Pletcher was 66th, Jack Sears ran 93rd, T.J. Diehl took 121st, Austin Lewis placed 133rd, Griffin Workman finished 134th and Marcus Cortez was 186th. In the open race, Ethan Branch was 103rd, Dillon Amens took 153rd, Matthew Kearns ran 167th and Zach Govani placed 173rd.
Cardington was 25th in the meet, with Mason White finishing eighth in 12:07.9. Miles Grooms was 95th, Kaleb Meade took 168th, Jim Hallabrin finished 182nd, Sam West was 202nd, Avery Longsdorf took 222nd and Evan Kyrk was 233rd.
Gilead Christian ran in the open race. Anthony Millinger finished 11th in 13:37.3, while Connor Beck was 35th and Wesley Bush took 229th.
