After finishing 3-10-1 in his program’s first year of existence, Highland boys’ soccer coach John Sacleben returns a lot of returning lettermen to this season’s squad.

Senior Zach Rogers was a second-team All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference performer last year and will be back with classmates Kahlil Karya, Brad Morehouse, Alex Presley, Jay Schreiber and Jon Sparks. Also back are juniors Austin Kelley, Garrett Milburn, Ben Rinehart and Hasin Turner; as well as sophomores Zachary Granger, Ryan Kelley, Ethan Pinkham, Chris Schnuerer, Jeffrey Smith and Cameron Striblin.

The team also will add junior Brennen McLaughlin; sophomore Justin Brown and freshmen Jordan Brooks, Thomas Cruz, Colton Gustafson, Xaiver Privette and Austin Smith to the varsity to fill the shoes left by graduates Andrew Ruckman and Vinny Wiley.

As the only team with soccer in the new Knox Morrow Athletic Conference, Sachleben quipped, “We’re the only boys program in the brand new KMAC. Should win it!”

When it comes to team goals, the coach had a simple message.

“We want to improve on last year’s record and have some fun.”
