After finishing 7-16 last year, second-year Cardington volleyball coach Kendra Mosher is hoping her team can improve to the .500 mark.

While they graduated Samantha Brininger, who was a first team pick by both the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference and Central District, they do return seven letter-winners. Libero Rylie Partlow was named to the second team by the league and got honorable mention recognition from the district. She led the team with 372 digs.

MaKenna McClure and Racheal Rees tied for second on the team in kills and blocks, with McClure named honorable mention by the MOAC. Marissa Hall led the team in assists, while Markayla Sites, Jordan Deskins and Olivia Jones also return from last year’s squad. Of the returnees, Rees and Sites are seniors, while the rest of juniors.

They will be joined by juniors Kyndall Spires, Mariah Hershey and Abby Hickman and sophomores Paige Clinger and Maci Morgan.

“This season, we are repeating the goals for last year that we were not able to meet,” said Mosher. “We want to finish at the .500 mark. We also want to play more as a team and be highly competitive in all of our matches.”

An improved conference finish is essential to meeting those goals.

“We hope to finish in the top four in the conference this year,” added the coach. “The teams in our conference to look out for are mainly Highland and Centerburg. They have been in the top for the past couple of years and we hope to be able to compete well with them and the other teams in our conference to make our goals realistic.”
