A total of $5,765 was generated when the annual Morrow County Pie and Cake Auction was held Saturday, September 5, at the Morrow County Fair.
The Grand Champion Cake, a Variety (Cookie Dough), was baked by Jeanette Kincaid and purchased by the Morrow County Republicans
The Reserve Champion cake, a White Cake with vanilla bean, was baked by Melissa Ferraraccio and was purchased for $125 by Tom Elkin, candidate for Morrow County Judge.
The Grand Champion Children’s Cake, a chocolate, was baked by Ava Underwood and purchased for $600 by Bayer, Jerger and Underwood Co LPA.
The Grand Champion pie, a Pecan, was baked by Sharon Vallery and purchased for $525 by Cutrupi and Associates Financial Group.
The Reserve Grand Champion pie, a Blueberry, was baked by Elizabeth Emerson and purchased for $600 by Bryce Coder, candidate for Mount Gilead Board of Education. Accompanying him were Erin Emerson, Richard Sears, and Dennis Jordan.
Others baking pies were Charlotte S Benedict, Linda Frazier, Kincaid Farms, Dwane Law, Sheryl Bailey, Pam Frazier, Warner Way Farm, Vickie McKinney, Shelby Emerson, Renee Holtsberry, Rocks family, the Brewer Family, Charlotte Shadel, Caleb Smith, Lora Hamilton, Eren Emerson, and Robin LaRoche.
Others purchasing the cakes and pies were Morrow County Democrats, Wes Goodman candidate for State representative; the Hessey Family, Morrow County Commissioners, Rob Hickson, judge; the Morrow County Pork, Dairy and Cattlemen’s Association; Vanessa Mills, Clerk of Courts; Donna Carver for Village of Mount Gilead Council; Elkins for Judge and Hinton for Sheriff; Masonic Lodge; Ruth Creswell, the Spires Family; Winand Family; Charlie Howland and Kim Bood, candidate for Morrow County Clerk of Courts.
Auctioneers were Dwain Peak, Bill Creswell and Brandon Strain.
The money generated is equally divided between the Arts and Crafts and Junior Fair Building Fund.
