Aspiring actors have a new home with the opening of the Morrow Little Theatre at 102 East Main Street, Cardington.

This new location will provide the MLT with space to thrive as a cultural hub for years to come. Supported and anchored by the Cardington community, the building will offer performance and rehearsal space, costume and prop storage and office space for the functioning of the Morrow Little Theatre.

The Morrow Little Theatre was organized in 2010. They have performed ten shows or two a year.

The 2016 season offerings include the opening production, “Steel Magnolias,” by Robert Harling, a touching, modern day story of a close knit circle of friends whose lives are seasoned with happiness and tragedy.

The cast includes an eccentric, grumpy old woman, a caring mother, a stunning-yet stubborn daughter, a town gossip, a beauty shop owner and a devoutly religious wallflower. The story centers on a group of gossipy southern women in a small town beauty parlor and proves to be both hilarious and heart felt, revealing the antic banter of its characters with a sense of strength, courage and purposefulness.

Best known for its motion picture debut starring Sally Field, Julia Roberts and Shirley MacLaine, “Steel Magnolias” will be performed April 15, 16 and 17. Cast calls for this show will be March 3 and March 7, both nights at 7 p.m. at the theatre.

Director of this production is Ken Barnett. Coming attractions include Oklahoma, MLT’s big musical on July 15-16 and 17; Pirates of Pinzance, a children’s production in October and a Christmas production in Mt Gilead and Cardington in December.
