MOUNT GILEAD — Students and staff at Mount Gilead High School and Middle School took part in a pumpkin decorating contest last week. Students in their first period classes took on the challenge of being the most creative with the winners receiving juice and donuts as the prize, not to mention ribbons and bragging rights.

Participation was tremendous, said Principal Deb Clauss. Students were gathering in the Community Room to view as new pumpkins were added each day to the display table.

Winners: Scariest – Lil Pump Kin – Mrs. Stevens, Most Artistic – Bertha Birthday Pumpkin – Mrs. Kohler, Funnist- One-eyed, One-horned Flying Purple People Eater – Ms. Flora, Most Realistic – Witch- Mrs. Gerber.

Most Creative – MGHS Indian Pride – Mr. Ulrey, Most Elaborate – Dia de Los Muertos La Catrina – Mrs. Aguirre.

Best Overall Middle School – Movie Theme – Morgan Dettra, Best Overall High School – Big Mac- Ms. Hensl.

“Thank you to all who participated and a special thanks to the judges. Their jobs were not easy. Keep your creative juices flowing as we will have another contest for the holidays,” Clauss said.
