MARION — Local optometrist and founder of Professional Eye Care in Marion and Mission of Sight in Jamaica, Dr. Doug McCloy, was just awarded the prestigious Ohio Optometric Humanitarian award in a ceremony and reception held in Cleveland.

The award was presented to Dr. McCloy by Dr. Shane Foster, President of the Ohio Optometric Foundation.

“It is largely in part because of the support of Marion and the surrounding communities that I can do what we do to help provide needed eye care for families and children in Jamaica,” McCloy said. “The patients of our Marion office and the residents of our community play a significant role both in our success and this award for which I am incredibly grateful.”

The Ohio Optometric Foundation Humanitarian award is given to one person per year, “In appreciation of exceptional benevolent contributions to humanity through the unselfish dedication of their time, professional skills and charitable donations.”
