Morrow County elected officials will continue their search for a new county coroner after Dr. Matt Hintz’s resignation from the position.

His resignation is required due a statute in the Ohio Revised Code mandating that officials reside in the county in which they serve.

Hintz is moving to a residence in Delaware County.

Morrow County Commissioner Dick Miller stated that the search for a replacement coroner is tough because of the number of practicing doctors in the county.

The commissioners unanimously approved Hintz to serve as the interim coroner a replacement is found. His interim term expires after 45 days.

However, the Morrow County Commissioners are in talks with other elected officials to see if arrangements can be made for Hintz to serve as the county coroner.

Additionally, the MCCs approved an amended drug policy for county employees to include a section regarding use of state approved medical marijuana.

Employees who work for Morrow County will continue to be prohibited from using the substance even under medicinal use.
