Vice President Ron Pine welcomed the alumni and guests and led the Pledge to the Flag.

During the meeting conducted by Gary Ebert, association president, members of the Class of 1967, the 50 year class, were introduced individually by classmates Susie Jenkins Peyton and Judy Burggraf Garvin. Ebert also led the induction of four alumni into the association’s Hall of Fame. Inducted were Jenkins, Class of 1967; Marilyn Radel Davis, Class of 1966; Douglas Poorman, Class of 1983 and James Clinger, Class of 1972.

Clinger was unable to be present and his daughter, Megan Clinger, thanked the association for the honor. Made an honorary member of the alumni association was Brian Petrie, superintendent of the local school district. Presenting the certificate of honorary membership, Ebert complimented Petrie for his ongoing support of the alumni association. His photo will join six other honorary members when the new directory is published. Petrie expressed his appreciation for the honor.

Linda Ruehrmund asked for help in preparing and publishing a new directory in the next three years.

Ebert recognized the Class of 1947, the 70 year class, the Class of 1957, the 60- year class and acknowledged Esther Ackerman Cobourn, 100 years old and a member of the Class of 1935.

Five scholarships were awarded: Austin Yake and Toby Beveridge, each $1,000 from the alumni association; Jessica Shook and Andrea Oldham, each $1,000 from the Bea Kloss Scholarship Fund and Cody Long, $2,000 from the Class of 1966.

The 2017 grads expressed their appreciation for these stipends. Also participating in the program were Mike Herron, Class of 1967, who gave the table grace before the dinner. Welcoming the Class of 2017 into the association was Carol Heacock, Class of 1967 and the response was given by Bailey Shafer, Class of 2017.

Sharon Morris Collmer,Class of 1970 and Darlene Ebert Wallace, 1966, conducted a memorial service for 39 alumni who passed away during the

past year.

The dinner was catered by All Occasion Catering of Waldo. Registration was taken by Shirley Robinson and Jackie Winchell, Class of 1953, Audrey Newbury and Twila Gardner, Class of 1954 and Evelyn Davis Shoults, Class of 1945. Hosts were the executive committee and Don and Dori Coomer Class of 1959.

Leading the singing of the school song were former cheerleaders Wallace, Lois Weaston, Joan Swank and Carmen Bagley.

The Palace Theatre Big Band entertained with music for dancing and listening to wind up the evening. Earlier, several alumni were given a tour of the Nichols Street Elementary Building by Alan Long, Class of 1977. The next alumni party will be held May 26, 2018.
