ACE certified instructor, Stephanie Cowles invites Morrow County Community Center members and guests to a new class called “Lipstick and Leggings.”
It is a customized group fitness class that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:45 a.m. at the Community Center’s Activity Center in Mount Gilead. Classes consist of an array of aerobics, stretching and functional moves designed to tone, strengthen and energize. Cowles is a personal trainer at the Community Center.
Silver Sneakers meet at Seniors-on-Center with certified instructor, Joanne Trainer, R.N. The class moves to music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:45 a.m. at Seniors-on-Center at 41 West Center Street in Mount Gilead.
Low impact aerobics
Step/low impact aerobics started up this month after a summer hiatus. The group meets at Trinity Church in Mount Gilead. The aerobics class is an hour of aerobic activity accompanied by music and mixed with stretching, floor exercises and weight lifting. The class meets on Mon. and Wed. at 7 p.m. and at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. Dr. Allen Stojkovic is the instructor for the co-ed class.
Tai Chi classes meet at the Activity Center with instructors, Marlene and Steve Renick. It is a slow, low impact program that anyone can do. It helps build strength, balance and confidence. Classes are on Monday at 12:30 p.m. and Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The Renicks encourage all to come to the class to see what it is all about.
Zumba classes are on Wednesdays at 6 – 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Activity Center. The instructor is Emily Smith. Zumba combines Latin and International music and fun for an effective workout system.
