On Saturday, Mount Gilead advanced in the first round of the postseason tournament with a 9-3 win at Grandview Heights in 10 innings.

The score was tied at 2-2 after seven innings of play, as the Indians scored twice in the top of the sixth, but were matched by Bobcat runs in both the fifth and sixth frames. Both teams scored in the eighth, but in the top of the 10th, MG tallied six runs to finally put their opponents away.

MG only got five hits in the game, but were able to take advantage of 11 walks issued by Grandview pitchers, as well as four errors. Tyler Bland had a pair of singles to lead the offense, while Jake Wayt drove in two runs.

Noah Arrington and Ben Hayes handled the pitching for the Indians, with Hayes picking up the win in relief. Arrington pitched the first six innings, striking out eight, walking two and giving up six hits. Hayes struck out and walked two, while giving up one hit in pitching two frames.

Highland Scots

Highland snared sole possession of the Blue Division championship on Friday with a 4-3 win over Cardington on Senior Day. The visiting Pirates scored three runs in the top of the third inning, but the Scots responded with two in their half of the frame. They would then add runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to claim the win.

Conner Ulrey struck out nine and gave up nine hits over six innings, while Mack Anglin earned the win by pitching a scoreless seventh. In the third inning, Justin Robinson smacked a two-run double to keep the Scots close. In the seventh, it was a big hit by Shane Carney that scored Anglin from first base to win the game.

Northmor Knights

Northmor got some positive momentum heading into the tournament on Friday with a 9-5 home win over Fredericktown. The Knights scored two in the first and four in the second to take a 6-1 lead. While the Freddies closed to within a one-run margin in the top of the fifth, Northmor was able to hold on to their lead and extend it over the final innings to win by four.

Kyle Kegley pitched a complete game for the win. He struck out one, walked three and gave up seven hits. The Knights finished with 10 hits on the day. Jake Farley had a double and single, while both Gunnar Lilly and Nate Hall added two singles. Also, Jordan Wiseman smacked a double.

Northmor adds win over Fredericktown
