Seven teams bowled in the ninth annual Bowl for the Cure tournament hosted by Morrow Lanes in Cardington on Feb. 13, and raised a total of $1811 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Columbus Affiliation.
Members of the winning team, Frank’s Cab, Marion, were Peggy Goodman, Bob Stiffler, Andy Cole, Melody Haag and Michal Shirley. Each team member won $50.
Tossing the first balls to kick off the competition were Ruth Adams, a breast cancer survivor and Judy Miley, a cancer survivor, both of Marion. Among the donors of gifts for the raffle drawing were Eldonna McKinniss Avon products; Carol Patterson, Tupperware.
Others donating included Wanda Mitchell, Mitzie Thompson and Debbie Popp. The $100 Kroger gift card was won by Melody Haag and winner of the 50-50 drawing was Linda Mllington, winning $107.00.
The organization thanks Anchor Preservations, Cardington, for its donation of $300 to the foundation. Hosting this event were Larry and Debbie Popp, owners of Morrow Lanes. The bowling event is held in memory of Kendra Benson, of Nevada, a niece of Debbie Popp, who passed away in 2006 after battling cancer.
