The Oscar nominated film ‘Brooklyn’ is making its way to the Marion Palace Theatre and will be shown Jan. 22 and Jan. 24.
The film is vying for the award with several nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress (Saoirse Ronan) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Nick Hornby). Showing for the first time at a theatre in Marion, movie-goers have three opportunities to see this film at the historic Marion Palace Theatre.
With performances from Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson and Emory Cohen, ‘Brooklyn’ tells the profoundly moving story of of Eilis Lacey (Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn.
Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. ~Fox Searchlight Pictures
