Girls basketball: Knights fall to Warriors


The Northmor girls basketball team lost to Ontario 52-30 in non-league play on Wednesday.

The Lady Knights trailed the Warriors 35-12 in the first half of the game.

Northmor made 12 shots and 4 of 6 free throws, while Ontario made 22 shots and 5 of 8 free throws.

The Knights won the second half 18-17.

Lydia Farley and Madison Swihart led the team with seven points each. Both players had a 3-pointer.

For the Warriors, Emily Yeager led with 14 points including two 3-pointers.

Northmor (7-7, 5-4 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference) will host to play Elgin on Saturday.

The Knights have done its best without its point guard, who’s been out for the past four weeks because of an injury.

“We’ll keep on trying,” Northmor girls basketball head coach Daryl Uhde said.

Colonel Crawford Eagles, Wynford Royals

The Colonel Crawford girls basketball team defeated Wynford 53-47 on Wednesday.

The Lady Eagles and Lady Royals were tied at 21 at halftime.

Wynford shot 15 of 43 and made 14 of 20 free throws, while Colonel Crawford shot 18 of 37, making 10 of 19 free throws.

The Eagles defeated the Royals in the second half 32-26.

Colonel Crawford had 21 rebounds and 13 turnovers, while Wynford had 34 rebounds and 18 turnovers.

Alexus Burkhart led the Eagles with 20 points.

Jade Stuckman led the Royals with 11 points.

Colonel Crawford (6-9, 3-7 N10) will travel to play Seneca East on Friday, while Wynford (5-8, 4-6 N10) also will to play Carey.
