The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is reporting traffic fatalities over the New Year’s reporting period and the Christmas reporting period.
Ten people were killed on Ohio’s roadways during the 2016 New Year’s Holiday, a four-day reporting period beginning Dec. 31 and ending Jan. 3. During this year’s reporting period, troopers arrested 438 drivers for impaired driving. In addition, troopers cited 950 people for safety belt violations.
During this year’s Christmas reporting period from December 24 through December 27, eight crashes resulted in nine fatalities. OSHP arrested 332 motorists for OVI.
The public is encouraged to continue using #677 to report dangerous or impaired drivers, as well as drug activity.
