Holtrey, Davies vie for Republican nomination for Auditor’s seat

Among the many issues to be decided on the May 6 ballot is the race for the Republican nomination for the Morrow County Auditor’s position. Auditor Mary Holtrey faces Development Director Patricia Davies in the May 6 Primary.Holtrey has been in her current position for 27 years and said she is running again because she loves her job.“I live three blocks from the courthouse and I don’t like staying home,” she maintains. “I have good employees and I feel I’ve done a good job in my 27 years as auditor.”

4/10/201412:24 A.M. The officer arrested a female subject on an active warrant out of Richland County on N. Main Street.1:03 A.M. A Sergeant with the Sheriff’s office requested that an officer respond to the 200 block of Boundary St. in reference to a 9-1-1 hang-up. The officer made contact with a female caller who advised that she had accidently called while asleep.

Mount Gilead parents consider the importance of .25 percent levy for permanent improvements

Jodi Hayes took a few minutes last Thursday to talk about why she supports the five year ¼ percent income tax levy for permanent improvements that will be on the ballot May 6th. Hayes is the mom of three recent Mount Gilead High School graduates and she has a fourth child who is still in High School.When asked why she supports the levy she answered without hesitation, “It’s the future of our children. It’s very important to support the levy.”

Grass fires keep local fire departments busy.

Local fire departments have been responding to a number of grass fires recently. According to ODNR division of Forestry, Ohio has about 500 spring wildfires, which burn approximately 3,000 acres annually.Ohio law states open burning and prescribed fires are prohibited from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during March, April, May, October and November.
