Madison Brehm, seventh grade, won the Cardington-Lincoln Spelling Bee held Friday, Jan. 22, in the Drouhard Auditorium.

There were 37 competitors from grades four through eight. Brehm, spelled “tonsils” in the ninth round of competition to win. She will advance to the Morrow County Spelling Bee to be held Thursday, Jan. 28, at Highland School.

Also advancing will be Makenzie Hart, Abby Devore, Megan Moller, Marlo Young, Tess Ruehrmund, Devin Gheen, Allison George, Josh Tidd and Maleigha Holtrey.

Marty Barnett, the bee’s director, pronounced the words and judges were Joe Mills, high school principal and Scott Hardwick, student support services director.
