CARDINGTON — Remember how special it was to open up a gift, a gift of your own brand new book? The Christian Education Board at St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) wanted to provide a special Christmas gift of a book to local children.

With a focus on educational development and community outreach, the Christian Education Board serves as a disciple-making ministry supported by the members at St. John. This board, concerned about reaching people for Christ, recognized a unique need in their community.

Aware that many kids in the community do not have their own books, the group formed a Thrivent Action Team and gathered money to seed the project, a news release states.

Their efforts resulted in purchasing enough books to provide one new book to each student in pre-k through fourth grade at Cardington Elementary. As a result, 455 children will receive a brand new book from St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall).

Each book has a label inside the front cover with a Christmas wish.
