Highland would split a pair of games on Saturday, losing to Westerville South and winning against Big Walnut.

In their 10-0 loss to the Westerville team, the Scots were held to three hits. Lucy Smith and Abby O’Bryant combined to strike out two and walk three.

While Highland only got four hits against Big Walnut, that was enough to give the locals a 4-1 win. O’Bryant struck out one and walked one, but only surrendered two hits in the contest.

Highland scored once in the first and twice in the third. BW would tally a run in the fourth to get within a 3-1 margin, but the Scots scored again in the fifth to maintain a three-run lead.

Northmor Knights

Northmor claimed softball wins on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — all in league play.

On Wednesday, the Knights topped Centerburg 10-0 in five innings. Shelbey Lilly struck out four and walked one while only giving up three hits to earn the win. Offensively, the team got 11 hits, with Lydia Farley picking up three, including a double. Lily Tate had two singles, while Cristiana Boggs added a triple and Cheyenne Shelton and Mikayla Briggs both cracked doubles.

The two teams had a rematch the next night, with the Knights winning again, this time by a 17-9 margin in eight innings. A big comeback by the Trojans erased a 9-0 Knight lead and sent things to extras; however, Northmor put up eight runs in the top of the eighth to take the win.

Lilly started the game and earned another win, while Karlee Carroll finished the action. They combined to strike out three and walk three, while surrendering 12 hits.

Northmor picked up 15 hits in the game, with four players having multi-hit contests. Andrea Weis had a home run and two singles, while both Tate and Boggs added three hits. Aly Blunk had a double and single and Shelton also hit a double for the Knights.

Friday saw Northmor claim a 12-3 decision at East Knox, as Lilly struck out three and scattered six hits in pitching a complete game. The team continued to do good at the plate, as they finished with 15 hits in the game. Carroll had three singles, while Boggs, Farley, Tate and Weis all had two. Also, Shelton contributed another double.
