Access to roads and parking lots located at the Rush Run and Pater Wildlife Areas will temporarily close starting in May according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The closures are part of an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) project that aims to repair damaged pavement, improve water drainage and patch ruts and potholes to make access to the areas smoother for vehicle traffic. The ODNR Division of Wildlife will post signs at both areas notifying the public of the closures as well.

These intermittent closures will take effect starting on May 2, 2016and conclude, depending on weather, June 30, 2016. Rush Run Wildlife Area Manager, Bryan Dorsey, says closures could range from a few hours to several days depending on location. There will be no gates but barrels or cones will be in place to keep traffic off the impacted areas. The contractor will attempt to close one lot/road at a time to supply alternative parking for the public.

Visitors needing assistance in seeking alternative parking or access information should stop at the Rush Run Area Headquarters, 1989 Northern Road, Somerville, Ohio 45064, M-F 7:30a.m.-4:00p.m. or call (513)726-6795.
