Northmor got back on the winning track Tuesday when they hosted Mansfield Christian.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, they would score five runs in their half of the frame. Then, leading 5-4 entering the bottom of the second, they added two runs to take a three-run lead. Four in the fifth and one in the sixth would give the team breathing room and they held on to win by six.

Jordan Wiseman picked up the win. He and Mostyn Evans combined to strike out seven, walk four and give up seven hits. Offensively, the team got 12 hits, with Jake Farley having a triple and two singles, Gunnar Lilly and Wiseman both cracking two singles and Austin Wheeler finishing with a double.

Mount Gilead Indians

Mount Gilead couldn’t complete a late comeback on Tuesday when they hosted North Union in baseball, falling 7-6.

The Indians led 3-2 after the first inning, but gave up three in the second and one in the third to fall behind 6-3. The Wildcats added a run in the sixth frame, which proved to be key, as MG scored three in the bottom of the seventh to close within one run before North Union was able to finish the game.

Zack Foster and Cory Conant handled the pitching duties for the Indians, with Foster taking the loss. They combined to strike out three and walk one, while giving up nine hits. MG tallied seven hits in the game, with Noah Arrington collecting three singles and Dustin McAvoy getting a double.
