Highland jumped out to a fast start at home against Mount Gilead on Tuesday and never looked back in winning by a 17-3 margin.

The Scots scored eight in the first inning to take a commanding lead. After the Indians tallied three in the top of the third, they would add four more in the bottom of the frame. Highland picked up five more in the fourth and would finish the contest in five innings.

Lucy Smith and Abby O’Bryant pitched for the Scots. They gave up four hits, while striking out two and walking three. For MG, Madison Fry struck out four and walked two.

Highland finished with 17 hits. Kaitlyn Carney had four in the contes, including a triple. Bridget Oder had three more hits, including a solo home run and double. Also, Katie Coffee had three singles and both Parker Steck and Morgan Wilhelm added two hits.

Northmor Knights

Northmor held off a late rally by host Buckeye Central Tuesday in claiming a 6-3 win over the Bucks in softball.

The Knights scored one in the second inning, two in the third and one more in the fourth to jump in front 4-0. The Bucks would get within one with a three-run sixth inning, but Northmor tallied two in the top of the seventh to pull away for a three-run decision.

Shelbey Lilly scattered 10 hits and three walks, while striking out four. All three Buck runs were unearned in the contest, as the Knights had three errors.

Offensively, Northmor collected 10 hits. Deanna Delaney had three, including a triple, while Lily Tate added two hits. Also, Andrea Weis had a triple and both Karlee Carroll and Lydia Farley picked up doubles.
