Northmor advanced through the quarterfinals of the Division III OHSAA Regional Dual Team Tournament on Wednesday.

The host Knights had a bye in the first round due to Africentric withdrawing from the event. In the second round, they took on Clear Fork, who had beaten Grandview Heights 42-41 in the first round, and took a 57-21 victory.

Northmor earned four wins by forfeit and also claimed wins in six of the eight contested matches.

Jakob Neer (106 pounds) topped Dan Renfrow by pin in 1:21. At 120, Griffin Jenkins pinned Trey Back in 46 seconds. Conan Becker added a pin at 132, defeating Garrett Crowner in 24 seconds. At 145, Mathew Ross topped Dalton Hoeflich 10-5, while Brad Baker defeated Chris Thompson by disqualification at 152. Also, Mason Burger (195) claimed a pin in 4:35 over Nate Price.

Kyle Price (126), Tony Martinez (138), Nathan Price (220) and Tyson Moore (285) all had their arms raised via forfeit.

Northmor will compete next Wednesday in the regional semifinals and finals, which they will host, according to the OHSAA website. They will compete against Ashland Crestview with the winner of that match competing against either Amanda-Clearcreek and Nelsonville-York.

Mount Gilead Indians

Mount Gilead fell to Fredericktown in the first round of the Division III OHSAA Regional Dual Team Tournament by a 45-30 margin Wednesday.

The Indians won three matches on the mat and picked up three more by forfeit. At 145 pounds, Dominick Sullivan took a 16-7 major decision over Ward Palms. Tracy Lilly took a major decision over Jacob Yoder (13-4) at 160, while Hunter Trimmer (170) won 16-5 against Brandon Davis.

Earning forfeits were Gabe Hedrick (126), Zack McCallen (132) and Brandon Strickland (138).
