The Mount Gilead boys got back into the win column on Tuesday by taking a 61-48 win over Crestline.

The Indians led 12-10 after the first quarter and expanded their lead to a 27-14 advantage at the half. They would outscore the Bulldogs 24-20 in the third quarter to hold a 17-point lead entering the final frame on their way to the double-digit win.

Mount Gilead had balanced scoring in the game. Zack Hosack hit three shots from three-point range and led the team with 11 points, while Deondre Cook scored 10, Alex Ferguson went for nine and Austin Vanderkooi added eight.

Highland Scots

Highland was unable to overcome a slow start on Tuesday in a 53-46 loss to Big Walnut in a non-conference game.

The Eagles took a 17-7 lead after the opening period. While Highland outscored them 19-12 in the second quarter, they still trailed 29-26 at the half. Both teams scored nine in the third quarter, but Big Walnut took the fourth by a 15-11 margin to finish on top.

Quin Winkelfoos finished with 10 points to lead the Scots, while both Trent Mason and Shane Carney added eight.

Cardington Pirates

Cardington fell to Danville in a high-scoring game Tuesday by a 78-70 margin.

The Pirates led 17-15 after the first quarter, but were outscored 19-12 in the second to fall behind by a 34-29 margin at the half. Danville then took the third 16-14 and the fourth 28-27 to finish with the win.

For Cardington, Devin Pearl hit five three-pointers on his way to a 23-point effort. Derek Goodman added 18, while Dalton Snider scored 14.
