Highland battled back from a 2-1 deficit after the first inning to defeat Mount Gilead by an 11-2 count in a Monday baseball contest.

The visiting Scots tallied 10 hits in the game, including home runs by Luke Cain and Brock Church. Zach Pinkerton had a double and single, while Jace Brooks contributed a pair of singles. Jon Jensen earned the win. He, Evan Johnson and Hayden Kline combined to pitch a six-hitter. They struck out six and walked three.

For Mount Gilead, Ben Whitt finished with a pair of singles. Cade Smith and Jonny Martinez combined to strike out four and walk seven.

Cardington Pirates

Host River Valley rallied with a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie Cardington and then added one more in the eighth to finish with an 8-7 win over the Pirates.

Both Joe Denney and Kaiden Beach had a double and single for Cardington, while Caden Dewitt and Dillon Minturn added doubles. Wyatt Wade had three singles and A.J. Hall added two.

Dewitt suffered the loss in relief of Nate Hickman. The duo scattered 13 hits, while striking out four and walking three.
