When the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association released its All-Ohio teams for girls’ basketball, a few Morrow County athletes were represented.

Cardington senior Beth Hardwick was named to the second team in Division III. Teammate Kambry Edwards, also a senior, earned honorable mention.

In Division IV, Northmor senior Lexi Wenger was selected as special mention. Also, in Division II, Highland senior Emma West picked up honorable mention recognition.

Central District

When the Central District announced its all-district basketball teams, a number of local athletes got recognized for their efforts this winter.

In girls’ basketball, Northmor’s Lexi Wenger was a first-team pick in DIvision IV, while teammate Reagan Swihart picked up honorable mention. Beth Hardwick of Cardington was a first-team pick in DIvision III. Kambry Edwards was named to the second team, while Mikayla Linkous was selected honorable mention. Also in Division III, Madilyn Elson of Mount Gilead earned honorable mention. In Division II, Highland’s Emma West was named to the second team.

In boys’ basketball, Grant Bentley of Northmor picked up second-team honors in Division III. Mount Gilead’s Elijah Chafin was named to the third team, while both Paul Butterman and Carter Kennon got honorable mention.

For Highland, Garrett Fitzpatrick was selected to the third team in Division II. Nate Hickman of Cardington picked up honorable mention recognition in Division IV.

KMAC wrestling

When the KMAC gave out its wrestling awards, Northmor’s Niko Christo was named Wrestler of the Year.

Christo, Cowin Becker and Bryce Cooper all represented Northmor on the league’s first team for the 2021-22 season.
