Both Northmor and Mount Gilead competed at Pleasant’s Sally George Invitational over the weekend, with the Golden Knights finishing 13th out of 24 teams and MG running 17th.

Niko Christo paced Northmor by winning the 157-pound individual title. He won by first-period pin in each of his first three matches before claiming a 7-3 decision over Brandon Mulvaine of Pleasant in the finals.

Cowin Becker finished 4-2 in the meet to take fourth place at 113 points for Northmor

Dylan Amens won once at 150, while Colton Brammer picked up one win at 165 and Griffin Workman won once at 190.

Also, Cohan Hurst competed at 106, as did Trenton Ramos at 144 and Nick Armrose at 175.

Isaiah Fisher led Mount Gilead by finishing fourth at 285 pounds. He went 4-2 in the meet. Ashton Clark was 2-3 for MG at 175 pounds to place sixth.

Gabe Simpson picked up one win at 150 for the Indians, as did Garrett George at 190 and Nick Garvey at 215. Cody Maison competed at 157, as did John Miller at 165.

Highland Scots

The Highland wrestling team placed fourth out of 28 teams at New Lexington’s Jimmy Wood Invitational.

Cody Matthews earned the championship at 157 pounds. He went 5-0 on the day, with all of his wins coming by pinfall.

Caleb Wetzel went 3-2 at 132 pounds to finish in fourth place, while Kaden Miller had the same result at 138 pounds.

Eli Grandstaff was 4-1 at 165 pounds to take fifth place in that weight class. Ethan Taylor, wrestling at 215 pounds, also was fifth with a 4-1 record in the meet; while Landon Pedigo also accomplished that feat at 285.

Konner Blaney finished sixth at 106 pounds, going 3-2 in the meet. Remington Baker also went 3-2 for sixth place at 150. Chandler Stevens was 3-2 at 175 pounds to take seventh place.

Brendan Lester won once at 113, as did Jacob Garber at 126. Matthew Scarbury competed at 138, as did Damien Daneiel at 144.

Cardington Pirates

Cardington took 16th place at the Utica Invitational on Saturday.

Brave Mowers placed third at 190 pounds, going 2-2 in his four matches.

Lane Hughes won once at 132 pounds and Kaden Burton picked up one win at 285. Mathew Jobe competed at 150, as did Camron Tribunella at 215.
