Cardington picked up a non-league win over Pleasant Wednesday by a 56-27 margin.

The Pirates surged to an early lead in the game, holding an 18-8 advantage after the first quarter. They would widen that margin throughout the game, leading 27-14 at the half and 43-21 after three quarters before outscoring the Spartans 13-6 over the final eight minutes of regulation.

Mikayla Linkous led all scorers with 20 points. Dana Bertke added 11 and Kambry Edwards scored 10.

Northmor Golden Knights

Northmor was edged by host Ridgedale in girls’ basketball on Wednesday by a 45-40 margin.

The Golden Knights got out to a good start, leading 12-9 after the opening period; however, Ridgedale battled back to hold a 24-23 advantage going into the half. They pushed their lead to a 38-33 score by the end of the third and maintained a five-point lead through the end of the fourth.

Three players did most of the scoring for Northmor. Lexi Wenger led the team with 17, while Reagan Swihart added 12 and Paige Caudill had nine.

Highland Scots

On Wednesday, the Highland girls lost at Danville by a 56-41 count.

Danville jumped out to a 17-11 lead after the first quarter and increased that margin to a 31-19 count by halftime. It was still a 12-point game at 43-31 going into the fourth period and the Blue Devils were able to hold a 13-10 advantage over those final eight minutes.

Emma West’s 11 points led Highland on the night. Brylinn Tuggle finished with eight.
