On Friday, Cardington topped Danville by a 53-30 margin at home.

Danville held a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, but Cardington surged in front by a 20-15 count at the half and pulled away in the second half. The score was 38-25 heading into the fourth and the Pirates took a 15-5 edge over the final eight minutes.

Nate Hickman led the team with 13 points, while both Avery Harper and Trey Brininger finished with 11 each.

Northmor Golden Knights

In a hard-fought Friday game at East Knox, Northmor was edged by a 36-32 count.

The Golden Knights took a 12-10 lead after one quarter of play. After both teams scored 14 over the next two periods, Northmor was still up by two at 26-24 going into the fourth. Unfortunately for the locals, East Knox took a 12-6 advantage over those eight minutes to earn the win.

Logan Mariotti connected three times from long range in finishing with 11 points.

Mount Gilead Indians

Centerburg pulled away from Mount Gilead in the second half of a Friday night KMAC boys’ basketball game hosted by the Indians.

Both teams had 13 points in the first quarter and the Trojans only led 26-25 going into the half, but they would extend that lead over the final 16 minutes. MG was outscored 13-7 in the third quarter and 20-10 in the fourth in falling by a 59-42 count.

Matthew Bland’s 14 points paced the Indians, while Elijah Chafin tallied 12.
