With five returning letter-winners, Mount Gilead girls’ basketball head coach Ryan Stover is looking to improve on last year’s 3-20 record.
The Indians return Baylee Hack (9 points, 2 assists, 2.5 steals), Maddie Fitzpatrick (10.5 points, 2 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals), Alexis McCoy (2 points, 3 rebounds), Dakota Shipman (6 points, 6 rebounds) and Samantha Sullivan (3 points, 3 rebounds) to provide a good deal of experience.
Stover is looking to add new talent to that group in sophomore Zoie Barron and freshmen Holly Gompf, Kaitlynn Pfeifer and Emarah Miller. While his team returns a lot of players, Stover noted that they are still young, with his core mainly composed of sophomores.
“We’re looking to build with another young team led by sophomores,” he said.
In the KMAC, the coach looks at Cardington and Centerburg as the teams to beat.
