Mount Gilead fell behind early and was not able to catch up in a 55-40 road loss to Galion to open their season in girls’ basketball.

Galion jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one period of play and still held a 25-19 advantage at the half. They would then widen their lead in the second half, outscoring MG 14-10 in the third quarter and 16-11 in the fourth.

Dakota Shipman led the Indians with 16 points and five rebounds. Madison Fitzpatrick added 12 points, four steals and four rebounds and Samantha Sullivan tallied eight points and seven rebounds.
