A late comeback by Bloom-Carroll sent the visiting Bulldogs to overtime against Highland on Friday and B-C would wind up stealing a 35-34 win in the season-opening football game for both teams.

Highland jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter on a 26-yard scoring run by Brock Veley and a one-yard dive by Jack Weaver. The Bulldogs got within a six-point margin in the second quarter, but the Scots got a 14-yard scoring run by Brody Matthews, who added a two-point conversion run, and Highland led 21-7 at the half.

However, that lead would be cut to a 21-14 margin in the third quarter and B-C would then tie the game in the fourth. Highland regained the lead at 28-21 on an 11-yard scoring run by Matthews and a Jarin Vasquez PAT kick, but a late touchdown by the Bulldogs sent the game to overtime.

Highland took the ball first in the extra session and scored on a one-yard run by Matthews; however, the team could not convert the extra point kick. B-C then got a touchdown and extra point to finish on top by one point in the non-conference game.

Highland finished with 416 yards in the contest, 362 on the ground. Weaver tallied 185 of that total, while Matthews added 98.
