Mount Gilead’s McKenzie Bump, who recently finished her freshman year in high school, has been invited to play in the Ohio underclassman tournament on June 19 and 20, where she will represent the Central District team. Bump is a verbal commit to Indiana University and is ranked as one of the top 2020 talents in the nation according to Flosoftball.com. During the softball season, she led Ohio in batting average (.754) and on-base percentage (.784) and ranked fourth and 17th nationally in those stats. She led the Blue Division in batting average, OBS, steals, hits and slugging percentage and led Mount Gilead in every offensive category except walks. She was voted Maxpreps’ Ohio player of the week in week one of the season and earned first-team honors from the MOAC and Central District and was a second-team All-Ohio pick. Also, in 2016, her Ohio Lasers Green travel team won the ASA/USA National Championship in the 14-U division in South Dakota.
